Can't really figure out how this is possible, even applications that you install shouldn't be allowed to send chat messages on your behalf. Perhaps browser malware?
Any ideas, anyone?

Facebook messenger can be accessed as a separate application, such as meebo.. So it is likely that someone obtained the persons userid and password, and sent using a script similar to the ones that hacks msn..

Oh...didn't know that. Thought the FB Chat API was closed, didn't know that external apps could access it though. :P
